I am a founder and multi-stack technologist with an M.Tech in Embedded Systems & VLSI, who has spent over a decade building products that bridge the physical and digital worlds. My work spans PCB design and firmware all the way through cloud architecture, AI inference, and AR/VR — not as a generalist, but as a systems thinker who has shipped real things that real people use.

I founded AlAleem Systems and Refflion to tackle IoT and product design challenges in emerging markets, and built PotentialLabs MakerStore from a blank slate into a ₹10M+ ecosystem in under 36 months — while personally mentoring thousands of makers, students, and aspiring engineers across India.

My approach is simple: understand the problem deeply, design the full system elegantly, and ship — relentlessly. I'm now looking to bring this rare combination of technical depth and product vision to a global stage.

Built Refflion - End to End Plug & Play IoT Development Ecosystem

Refflion was an End-End IoT platform, development solution and Ecosystem. It comprises of an Arduino Leonardo Compatible Development Board with onboard WiFi Module (ESP8266), Online Cloud Ecosystem that syncs with the Board, and Mobile Apps that allow Makers to directly interact with the Hardware. The add-on Shields allow for rapid prototyping and testing of sensors and modules.

I led the team build the product & go from ideation, prototyping to small batch manufacturing. Our platform comprised of these verticals and I was excited to lead them:

  • Hardware/Firmware: Involved in building the Hardware (from Breadboard to PCB to 50 Production Units). This also included customized bootloader, SMD assembly, board bring-up, etc.
  • Mobile: Mentored the Android App Development process
  • Cloud: Dabbled in building the Cloud & WebApp for the IoT Platform
Some learnings/mistakes:
  1. Spent lot of time (many months) building our own IoT Cloud platform. I dabbled with multiple open source IoT platforms and tried to customize them for our offering. Tried half a dozen sequentially on our servers, building it, fixing issues and making it production ready. Dabbled with the whole MEAN stack & learning on the fly. I should have rather focused on building the Hardware and use an existing freemium Cloud platform like Thinger.io or Losant or Blynk (Amazon AWS wasn't supported yet on the ESP then due to TLS constraints)
  2. Should have built the IoT Board in the Arduino footprint itself instead of a new footprint. This would have allowed our consumers to use the existing hundreds of Arduino Shields. Instead, we set out building our own stackable shields for our board.

  • Worked across variety of platforms starting with Java based communication framework that involved multiple tech skills like Core Java, Swings, Servlets, Google Web Toolkit, PHP and Linux
  • Worked on customizing Microsoft Dynamics CRM that involved these technologies: .Net/C#, JavaScript, SQL Server etc
  • Designed and developed a responsive HTML5 Web/Mobile App based on Bootstrap running off ASP. Also customized the app to run as a native web wrapper for iOS devices
  • Tinkered with and underwent instructor-led training on Salesforce.com Administration and Development as part of the transition to SF from MS CRM.
